Parents - It's a big deal for you, too!
This is it.
You've worked for this moment since before they were born.
You never thought it would feel like this.
Sending your child to college is a parent's dream.
Sending your child to college is a parent's worry.
How will you know they are working? How can you be sure that they will make friends? Find their way? Stick with it? Succeed? Be happy? Right now you realize that control is an illusion.
BUILT FOR STUDENTS
Purdue has been shepherding young people for well over one hundred years. We have seen better, worse, similar and different than your son or daughter. We have built this place for them to succeed. Not just in the classroom, although that is our focus.
Clubs and student organizations exist for nearly every idea, hobby or interest imaginable. Boilermakers are welcoming and inclusive. Each person is respected and allowed to grow in their own way. It is a privilege to be part of this time of development and growth. We accept this honor with great reverence and care.
SAFETY
Providing for your child's safety is the number one concern at Purdue. We have our own police department, fire department, student health center and campus staff trained to support and encourage all students.
We have emergency text messaging, safety training courses, emergency plans for natural disasters, mandatory safety training for staff, support from local police, fire and medical services. We can't say it enough; the safety of our students is our number one concern.
CAREER PLACEMENT
FINANCE AND COST
MAKING MEMORIES
Look at Purdue through your child's eyes then make plans to be part of Purdue events. Enjoy the campus, concerts, lectures, exhibits, shows, athletic events and parent-centric events.
After all, this is your moment too.
Isn't it strange how time changes our perception? When you were young the world was exciting, new and full of possibility. As the passage of time shifts the prism view, many parents stare into the shadows, making those things unseen seem fearsome and strange. You never knew how your parents felt, did you?
Talk with our students and you will hear stories of events, games, parties, friendships, learning, exploring, bonding and growing. You will hear stories like the ones you told when you were young.
And speaking of money, you may have questions about tuition, books, fees, meal plans, scholarships and loans. If you do, please call our financial aid office (765 494-0998) or the bursar’s office (765 494-7570). They've heard every question, worked through countless situations and challenges, and they've been friendly and discreet through it all.
No matter what your question, concern or situation, please talk with
us. We will work with each student and family to find a solution. Money should never be a reason for not earning a degree.
Of course, our mission is to prepare our graduates to succeed in all aspects of their life. Challenging, relevant, marketable skills are taught in our classrooms, giving students the opportunity to build their own dreams. In addition to Purdue’s career center, Krannert School of Management has our own career center to help students find internships and then jobs.
Our career services team helps each student prepare a resume, practice interviewing and walks them through every aspect of the job-seeking process. Through our alumni and other business relationships, we are active participants in finding jobs for our grads. And Krannert grads average $53,000 in salary and signing their first year.
