Picking which college to attend can be one of the most difficult decisions. Four years ago when I was a senior in high school, I had a list of what an ideal college would look like. At the top of the list: an excellent education and a world of opportunities. Thankfully, that is what I’ve found at Purdue. I realized early on that Krannert was serious about preparing students for the real world. Classes are challenging and rewarding. They examine issues facing companies today and teach strategies on how to deal with and solve managerial problems. The approach that professors take challenges me to think critically from many different perspectives and look at both the local and global impact companies have.
In addition to the caliber of classes, Purdue has provided an opportunity to challenge myself beyond classes. I became involved in Purdue Student Government when I was elected by Krannert students to represent Krannert to the Student Senate. Through this position I had the authority to meet with state legislators about issues concerning Purdue students including securing funding to remodel the Recreational Sports Center and to pass legislation that would eliminate state taxes on textbooks.
Basically, Purdue and Krannert have provided me with exactly the college experience that I’ve needed to feel ready to take on the real world.
