Program Details

Location: Paris, France

Eligibility: The program is open to undergraduate students with a minimum 2.5 GPA who have successfully completed any required pre-requisites.

Course Credits: MGMT 324 Marketing Management & MGMT 390 Elective for 6 credits

Estimated Cost: $4800 (airfare and personal spending not included)

Housing: Students will stay in shared student apartments or residence housing in Paris.

Course Descriptions

Marketing Management - MGMT 324

This course prepares students to think strategically about marketing in today’s global environment. After successful completion of this course, students have a basic understanding of the marketing concept, the marketing mix (product, place, promotion and price), segmentation, targeting, positioning, customer value, branding, services marketing, global marketing, marketing metrics, consumer and business behavior, ethics and social responsibility in marketing, market planning, market research, and competitive analysis.

International Elective - MGMT 390

Both courses will be taught by on-site local faculty.

01

  • Depart for Frankfurt, Germany

DAY
02

  • by 12:00 pm: Arrive individually at Frankfurt International Airport (FRA)
  • Transportation by private bus from the airport to the Château de Pourtalès
  • 9 nights in twin rooms with shared bathroom on the corridor or triple rooms with private bathroom incl. breakfast at our European Study Center, Château de Pourtalès
  • Public transportation pass for the duration of your entire stay in Strasbourg
  • Welcome and orientation session at the Château
  • Welcome dinner at a restaurant in Strasbourg to kick off the program

  • Public transportation during the day
  • Guided walking tour of Strasbourg to learn about the “Capital of Europe” and its economic importance for the region
  • Guided tour of the Historical Museum. The museum evokes local urban history as well as the political, economic and social history of Strasbourg through paintings, drawings, and military objects

  • Transportation by private bus during the day
  • Bus tour along the Alsatian Wine Road: Guided tour of the Haute Koenigsbourg castle, see some of the picturesque wine villages along the wine-road and visit to a family-run winery (incl. tasting) to learn about their business concept and distribution markets.

  • Public transportation during the day
  • Scavenger hunt with your local coordinator focusing on Strasbourg to learn more about its history, culture, economy and the European Union. Explore the city by public transportation and discover important and beautiful places. Get in contact with locals to fulfill the assigned tasks and answer the questions.
  • Enjoy a free afternoon in Strasbourg to explore the city further on your own.
  • New Year's Eve party with a special New Year's Eve dinner at a restaurant in Strasbourg

  • Enjoy a free day in Strasbourg to explore this beautiful city at your own pace

  • Breakfast at the Château
  • 9:00 - 11:30 am: Class session at the Château on "Cross Cultural Communication" by Dr. Marketa Lepicovsky
  • Transportation by private bus in the afternoon
  • Corporate visit in the Strasbourg/Kehl area to complement your business course for example, visit to Badische Stahlwerke or Koehler Papermill, to learn about their production and distribution strategies as well as their sustainability concepts (tbc)

  • 9:00 - 11:30 am: Class session at the Château on "Cross Cultural Communication" by Dr. Marketa Lepicovsky
  • Transportation by private bus in the afternoon
  • Visit to the Euro Institute for a guest lecture on "German French Collaboration and Communication" (tbc); alternatively: Presentation by a guest lecturer from Eurodistrict PAMINA to learn about the history of the region, cross-border cooperation and the programs Eurodistrict PAMINA offers.

  • Public transportation during the day
  • 9:00 - 11:30 am: Class session at the Château on "Cross Cultural Communication" by Dr. Marketa Lepicovsky or Dr. Kevin McGabbham
  • Visit to the Lieu d’Europe or European Parliament to learn about the European Institutions (tbc)

10

  • Breakfast at the Château
  • Transportation by private bus during the day
  • Visit to the Black Forest Innovation Center and meet with their leaders as well as some start-ups that collaborate with them. The Black Forest Innovation Center is part of the Technology and Economy Mittelbaden/Offenburg Foundation and provides very innovative solutions for local communities, small and medium-sized companies and start-ups.
  • Corporate visit in the Offenburg area to complement your business course for example visit to an
  • internationally operating family-run mid-size company, such as Huber Kältemaschinen, MEIKO or Hobart
  • Farewell dinner at a restaurant in Strasbourg to wrap up the program

  • Transportation by private bus from the Château to the airport in Frankfurt
  • Departure from Frankfurt International Airport (FRA) to the USA (airfare not included)
