Richard Sussman

General Manager of Research and Development of North America
ArcelorMittal

Dr. Richard C. Sussman (Dick) is General Manager of ArcelorMittal Steel, North America Research and Development. Before coming to the company in July 2005, he was president of his own consulting company for steel technology and innovation consultation to manufacturing companies.

Dr. Sussman has served as Vice President of Technology for J&L Specialty Steel-Arcelor and Director of R&D at Allegheny Ludlum. Dr. Sussman spent 24 years with Armco Inc. with his last position as Director of the Technology Center.

He attained a B.S. in Metallurgy from Columbia University and a Ph.D. in Metallurgical Engineering from M.I.T. He has six patents, received numerous awards, has over 50 publications and invited presentations, and has written a book on innovation.
