What's Your Why? With Matt Clarke
On March 30 and 31, Matt Clarke, COO and CFO of Churchill Mortgage visited Krannert to share his wisdom about being brave, going the extra mile in life, and helped kick off the Leadership Communication Studio’s Wisdom from Failure Case Competition series of events. On the evening of March 30, he shared his personal experiences on how to have success and good relationships in your professional career, communicate effectively, and how to be the best you can be personally and outwardly. His number one piece of advice was to be good to people. He also said that the first things he does when he wakes up in the morning is make his bed, read, write, exercise, and pray in order to have a system, get his brain going, and to be thankful. At the end of the event, students were encouraged to ask questions, network with Mr. Clarke, and take the pledge to “Be Brave.” The students were inspired, interactive, and really took to heart what Mr. Clarke had to say.
On March 31, twelve students, with majors ranging from Health and Human Sciences, Management, and Engineering, were invited to have brunch with Mr. Clarke to share stories and converse about life, traveling, and our future plans. It was a wonderful opportunity to talk to Mr. Clarke in a less formal setting to get a more personal touch of the event. Students reciprocated well from both events and were inspired by Mr. Clarke’s words of wisdom. We cannot thank him enough for coming to share his story with students here at Purdue! He definitely left his mark on the Wisdom from Failure series.
