Jim and Jan are the founders and owners of Northwest Interiors Incorporated, a supplier to the recreational vehicle industry. They started their company in the basement of their home, and they have grown it into a multi-million dollar operation. They manufacture bedding and drapes.
Jim began his career in the banking industry. He held several senior leadership positions in the areas of marketing, strategic planning and acquisitions. Prior to joining Northwest Interiors on a full time basis, Jim was the Vice President of Sales and Marketing for Supreme Corporation, a national manufacturer of truck bodies. Jim has been a mentor for the McClosky MBA Business Plan Competition at the University of Notre Dame, a judge for the Burton D. Morgan Business Plan Competition and an angel investor in several new ventures.
Jan was a high school Spanish teacher and worked at home before making Northwest Interiors her full time career. Jan was responsible for the entire Northwest Interiors organization during its first eleven years of operation. She transformed the company into an industry leader and positioned it for future growth.
The Mellotts are active in the Women’s Shelter of Elkhart County, Big Brothers/ Big Sisters, The Salvation Army, Junior Achievement, and Premier Arts.
Jan graduated from Purdue with a Bachelor of Arts in Spanish Education. Jim graduated from Purdue with a Bachelor of Science from Krannert and holds a Masters of Business Administration from Indiana University.
