Professor Schoorman is a professor of Organizational Behavior and Human Resource Management at the Daniels School of Business. He has been an instructor in Purdue's EMBA programs since 1990, and teaches in the areas of organizational behavior, negotiations, and human resource management. He has also developed a certificate program on Diversity in Leadership delivered biannually to a group of minority executives.

In 2007, Dr. Schoorman received the "Distinguished Educator" award from the Academy of Management. This career award is the highest award granted by the Academy of Management.

In 2006, Professor Schoorman was honored with an award by the Academy of Management Review for his article, "An Integrative Model of Organizational Trust" (with R. C. Mayer and J. H. Davis), Academy of Management Review (1995). This article was recognized as the "Most influential article published in the decade of the 1990's."

His impact continues in the scientific community as his research has been cited over 50,000 times making him the most influential research scholar at the Daniels School of Business.  His research has examined the role of interpersonal trust between leaders and subordinates, trust repair, and the impact of trust on individual and organizational outcomes.  He has also published a number of papers on stewardship in organizations, decision making, leadership and motivation.

    Krannert Professor David Schoorman is an author of what’s widely seen as the most influential psychology paper in the decade of the 1990s. The research in that paper, and subsequent studies Schoorman and his colleagues have conducted in the quarter-century since, has revealed something fascinating about the way humans build and earn trust.
  • Schoorman, Smith receive Purdue’s inaugural Outstanding Leadership in Globalization Awards
    On the occasion of International Education Week, Nov. 18-22, Purdue’s Office of Global Partnerships (OGP) and Global Academic Committee (GAC) have named David Schoorman and William Smith as the inaugural winners of Purdue’s Outstanding Leadership in Globalization Awards. These University-level awards are given annually to recognize one staff member and one faculty member for their dedicated efforts to increase Purdue’s global recognition as a leader in higher education. Schoorman is associate dean for executive education and global programs and professor of management in the Krannert School of Management, and Smith is director of global engagement in the College of Veterinary Medicine.

  • Global business school powerhouses to offer dual degree program in business analytics
    Leading Indian business school NMIMS is teaming up with Purdue University’s Krannert School of Management to offer students two degrees in the rapidly growing field of analytics. Upon successful completion of the two-year program, participants will earn a Master of Business Administration in decision science and analytics from NMIMS and a Master of Science in business analytics and information management (MS BAIM) from Purdue.
