Kevin Mumford studies the effects of public policy in a variety of areas including education, taxation, labor market regulation, and personal finance. He advocates for the official measurement of comprehensive wealth by governments as opposed to attempts to directly measure happiness. His research is published in some of the top economic outlets including the American Economic Review, the Review of Economics and Statistics, and the Journal of Econometrics.

Professor Mumford joined the Department of Economics at Purdue University in 2007 and was promoted to Associate Professor with Tenure in 2014. He was the Director of Undergraduate Programs in Economics from 2015 to 2018 and is currently the Kozuch Director of the Purdue University Research Center in Economics (PURCE). He holds a Ph.D. and an M.A. in Economics from Stanford University and a B.A. in Economics from Brigham Young University.
