Jose Oliveira is working as a consultant for Economia Aplicada aos Negocios in Vitoria Espirito Santo, Brazil. He formerly served as the firm’s director.

Bullet1986 - 20th Anniversary Year

Keith Hall is chief economist for the U.S. Department of Commerce, serving as the principal economic advisor to the undersecretary for economic affairs. Hall previously was a senior international economist in the Research Division at the U.S. International Trade Commission.


Jeong Chan-woo has been appointed team leader of Financial HUB Korea, which was created by Korea’s Finance Ministry to be a top government contact point for foreign financial institutions. An economist with the Korea Institute of Finance, Chan-woo previously taught at Chonnam National University.

Robert Braverman, MSIA, and his wife, Beverly, have returned to Louisville, KY, after 16 years in Dallas, TX. He writes, “My company, Bran Management Services Inc., continues to grow and prosper. I have relocated its headquarters here as well, and am still the president and CEO.”

Edward “Ned” Bielski, MSM, has been named the corporate controller for IAP WorldWide Services Inc., an international services firm headquartered in Cape Canaveral, FL.

William Heinrich, MSIA, has been promoted to president and CEO of Ausco Products Inc. in Benton Harbor, MI. He previously served as chief operating officer and executive vice president for the company, which designs and supplies brakes for specialty vehicles.

John Holmberg, MSM, is managing director, Pacific Rim, for Godiva Chocolatier in Hong Kong, where he will lead the confectionery company’s business expansion across Asia. Holmberg previously was general manager of Kraft Taiwan.

James Martin, MSM, is an attorney with the firm of Morrison, Fenske & Sund in Minnetonka, MN, practicing in the areas of labor/employment law and school law. He writes, “My wife, Liz (MSM ’85), is busy successfully overseeing the activities of our four children, ages 11, 9, 6, and 20 months. She is also involved in an entrepreneurial venture developing kitchen products.”

Scott Sandefur, MSM, has been appointed executive director–human resources at GM Holden, the automotive company’s Australia division. Sandefur began his General Motors career with Delco Products in 1986 and held a number of positions in manufacturing and human resources before joining GM Holden in 2004.

Mitch Walker, MSM, writes, “I left my career in marketing and general management a few years ago, and am working as a home staff missionary at Gospel for Asia, in Carrollton, TX.  My wife, Cheryl, and I have five children: Natalie, Major, Silas, Hudson, and Lorena. I would love to hear from other classmates and friends.”


Karen Leggio, MSM, was named one of the top 100 women in the North American Automotive Industry by Automotive News. Leggio is vice president, global purchasing and supply chain, for General Motors’ Latin America, Africa, and Middle East Operations.


John Sheehy, MSM, has been promoted to director of account management for Leo Burnett USA in Chicago, IL. Previously an executive vice president and account director, Sheehy will also retain leadership of the advertising agency’s Kellogg’s account, which he has helped manage for 15 years.


Jeffrey R. Kiesel, MSM, has been named chief executive officer at Restaurant Technologies Inc. (RTI), a Minneapolis, MN-based provider of bulk cooking oil management service. Prior to joining RTI, Kiesel was senior vice president of field operations for G&K Services Inc.


Ken Klemme, MSM, has been named assistant director of economic development for the Indiana Department of Agriculture, where he will oversee finance-related initiatives and lead a team covering many areas of the strategic plan. Klemme joined the department in May 2005 as director of the Indiana Grain Buyers and Warehouse Licensing Agency.


Heather Planey, MSIA, and her husband, Michael (BSAAE ’96), announce the birth of their daughter, Isabel, born October 28, 2005. The family lives in Alexandria, VA.

Bullet1996 - 10th Anniversary Year

Steve Vanderveen, MSM, has been named chief operating officer at Great Lakes Home & Resort, a leading manufacturer of hot tubs, pool tables, saunas, and casual furniture. He will oversee all manufacturing activities at the company’s facilities in Michigan, Minnesota, and West Virginia.


Brian Valentine, MSM, and his wife, Jennifer, have returned to the states after four years in Switzerland. He writes, “We have settled in Fairfield, CT, with our son, Brendan, and a new addition, Katherine Grace, who was born in Zurich on December 13, 2004.” Valentine is director, financial control projects, for UBS.


Darren Lehrich, MSM, has joined Deutsche Bank Securities Inc.’s Global Markets division in New York City as a managing director covering the healthcare facilities sector, including acute care hospitals, ambulatory surgery centers, outpatient dialysis facilities, behavioral hospitals, and hospice providers. Lehrich previously was a managing director and senior analyst covering the healthcare facilities sector at Piper Jaffray and Co.


Andrew Greta, MSM, has been appointed director of business development at Chicago Mercantile Exchange (CME), the world’s largest financial exchange. Greta comes to CME from General Electric, where he most recently served as director of global business development.


Erol Eskinazi, MSM, has been promoted to supply chain manager of multi-vendor services for GE Healthcare Technologies in Waukesha, WI, where he has held four jobs with increasing responsibility in five years. He writes, “The analytical focus of Krannert becomes very powerful in companies like GE, where you have to prove yourself as an individual contributor before moving into leadership roles.”

Bullet2001 - 5th Anniversary Year

Kurt Gamauf, MBA, married Erica Nathan (BA ’01) on July 30, 2005. The couple resides in Michigan, where Gamauf serves as human resources manager for Whirlpool.

Steve McQueen Jr., MBA, is director of customer satisfaction for Cooper Crouse-Hinds, a leading manufacturer of electrical products headquartered in Syracuse, NY. McQueen previously was a project manager with Whirlpool.

Andre van de Sande, MSM, has been appointed general manager of Schering-Plough BV Netherlands. He joins the global science-based health care company from Organon, the Netherlands, where he has held several high-level positions, including executive director, Asia-Pacific; general manager, Hungary; and sales and marketing director, Belgium.

Robert C. Wren, MBA, was awarded the Order of Military Medical Merit for significant lifetime achievement in the U.S. Army Medical Department. Wren retired from the Army in 2005 after more than 20 years as Medical Service Corps officer. He is now working for Anteon International Corp. as the chief information officer and senior project manager for the Army PACS Program Management Office in Fort Detrick, MD.


Andrea Sjovall, MSM, has accepted the position of corporate responsibility manager with Wal-Mart. She has relocated to Bentonville, AR, to work in the company’s corporate office.


James Simpson, MBA, has been promoted to the senior vice president, health economics and government affairs, at Zimmer Holdings Inc., an orthopaedic product manufacturer headquartered in Warsaw, IN. Prior to joining Zimmer in 1999, Simpson spent more than 18 years in various management positions at Abbott Laboratories.


Tracie Macejak, MBA, married Gerald Miller Jr. on October 8, 2005. The couple resides in Joliet, IL.


Rayna Clifton, MSHRM, is a human resource partner with IBM in Poughkeepsie, NY.

Cristobal Moreno, MBA, is a strategy analyst with ConocoPhillips in Houston, TX, focusing on the company’s liquefied natural gas (LNG) business.

Keia Odle, MSHRM, is the assistant human resource manager for Kraft Foods’s Norcoss, GA, facility.

Kunio Tsukamoto, MSIA, is an assistant vice president with the Bank of Tokyo-Mitsubishi in New York, NY.

PhD Alumni News

Gregory Faherty, BSIM, is the new president and chief executive officer of Dallas, TX-based Atrium Companies Inc., one of the largest manufacturers and suppliers of residential windows in North America. Faherty previously was the president and CEO of Siplast Inc., and also held various senior executive positions during a 19-year career with Owens-Corning.


William Terry Griggs, BSIM, was selected by the Indiana CPA Society as the Outstanding CPA in Government for 2005. Griggs is an audit administrator for the Indiana Department of Revenue.

Nancy Handel, BSIM, has been named to the board of directors of Broadcom Corp., a leader in wired and wireless broadband communications semiconductors based in Irvine, CA. Handel is senior vice president and chief financial officer of Applied Materials Inc., a major supplier of equipment and services to the semiconductor industry.

Dennis Recker, BSIM, has been named vice president of New Holland Agricultural Business in North America. Recker previously held the position of regional sales director for New Holland’s southeast region. The Pennsylvania-based company sells and services a diverse line of agricultural and utility equipment.


Thomas Dobberstein, BSIM, was recently promoted to managing partner, Nebraska region, at Thrivent Financial for Lutherans in Omaha, NE. He previously served the firm as a partner.


Diane C. Decker, BSIM, a workplace consultant with Quality Transitions in Mount Prospect, IL, is co-author of First Job Survival Guide: How to Thrive and Advance in Your New Career, published by Jist Inc.

Robert J. “Bob” Vaughan, BSIM, has been appointed chairman of the Georgia Public Service Commission Advisory Committee. Employed by the commission for 30 years, Vaughan currently serves as the internal consultant for the utilities division.


Stephen Brant, BSIM, has been appointed vice president and industry practice leader at Hitachi Consulting in Dallas, TX. Brant spent 17 years in various consulting and leadership roles with Andersen Consulting, now Accenture, and most recently served as president and managing partner of Executive Velocity Partners.


John Luttrell, BSIM, was named executive vice president and chief financial officer of Wet Seal Inc., a specialty retailer of apparel and accessory items based in Foothill Ranch, CA. Luttrell comes to Wet Seal from Cost Plus Inc., where he most recently served as senior vice president and chief financial officer.

Bullet1981 - 25th Anniversary Year

Richard F. “Rick” Smith, BSM, has been named chief executive officer and chairman of Equifax Inc. in Atlanta, GA. He joins the company after 22 years with General Electric, where he held CEO positions in three different business units during the course of his tenure, most recently at GE Insurance Solutions.


John Neureuter, BSIM, married Petrina “Tina” Scinta on August 20, 2005. The couple resides in Cheektowaga, NY.

John Furrey, BSM, and his wife, Stacy, welcomed a son, Tanner Dixon, on March 21, 2005. Furrey was recently promoted to director of Americas, new business analysis, at Electronic Data Systems (EDS) in Plano, TX.


Anuar “Matt” Yaacob, BSM, is a textile manufacturer with Hualon Corp. in Nilai, Malaysia. He and his wife, Normala, have two daughters.


Miranda McKee, BS (ACCT), and her husband, John, welcomed a son, Tyler Bryce, on August 22, 2005. McKee is a financial outlook coordinator for BP in Houston, TX.


David Brady, BSM, married Peggy Imbus on August 21, 2005. Brady is a program manager with Xerox Capital Services in Park Ridge, IL.

Melissa Stout-Conrad, BSM, and her husband, Christopher, are the proud parents of Quinn Joseph Conrad, born September 2, 2005. The family resides in Noblesville, IN.

Michael Tomasello, BSM, is currently pursuing an MBA in strategy and business intelligence at Thunderbird, The Garvin School of International Management, in Glendale, AZ. Tomasello formerly was vice president of international expansion at AIESEC in New York, NY.

Amy Weik, BSM, recently earned certification as a Project Management Professional (PMP). She serves as technical project manager for JPMorgan Chase in Chicago, IL.

Keith Raper, BSIM, recently earned an MBA in finance from the Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania. He is an equity research associate with JPMorgan in New York, NY.


Jason “Eric” Evans, BSIM, completed his MBA at Harvard Business School and was recently named director of business development for Lake Pointe Medical Center in Dallas, TX. Evans also attended Purdue’s December 2005 commencement to see his younger brother graduate. His wife, Steffanie (MA 1999), writes, “It was a wonderful ceremony and reminded both of us how much we love Purdue.”


Amanda (DeRita) Caswell, BSM, married Adam Caswell in October 2004. The couple resides in Wesley Chapel, FL.

Matthew Donaldson, BSM, has been appointed group human resources manager for Cooper Power Systems facilities in South Milwaukee, WI, and Greenwood, SC. He previously served as human resources manager for Cooper’s Waukesha, WI, facility.

Pooja Shetty, BSM, is the director of Fame Adlabs Films. One of India’s largest film companies, Adlabs owns 24 screens and is in the process of buying another 40. It also distributes digital cinema equipment to theatres across India.

Andres Abascal, BSM, is the marketing manager for Molinos Modernos, a manufacturer of wheat flour for the baking and pastry industry located in Guatemala.

Matt Dull, BSIM, works in inside sales at Bohler-Uddeholm’s Wood Dale, IL, facility. The company is a leading international specialty steel producer.

Veneeth Iyengar, BS (ECON), is heading TeleTech’s business development efforts in the Philippines, including the business process outsourcing company’s recent acquisition of FinSource Inc. Iyengar joined TeleTech in 2005 after finishing his contract with the United States Peace Corps’s Business Development Sector in the Philippines.

Gabino Martinez, BSM, continues his career with GE Supply, and now resides in Miami, FL.


Varun Jain, BSIM, is director of Autofin Limited, a dealer of Tata Motors passenger cars in Secunderabad, India.

Mulyadi Kurniawan, BSM, is a business development executive with ABN-AMRO Bank in Jakarta, Indonesia.

Eddie Sans, BSIM, recently opened a specialty restaurant in Indianapolis, IN, called “When Eddie Met Salad.” The business plan for the eatery, which offers soups and “build-your-own” salads, grew out of Sans’s senior thesis at Krannert.

Melissa (McCabe) Wychocki, BSM, married Nicholas Wychocki (BSM ’04) on March 19, 2005, in Naples, FL, where she works for John R. Wood Realtors. She writes, “we may be far away, but we’re still Boilermakers!”

Greg Conner, BSM, married Lisa Dolansky on February 25, 2006. He is an inside sales engineer with Bastian Material Handling in Indianapolis, IN.

Christopher Epperson, BSIM, is a manufacturing engineer at Sikorsky Aircraft Corp. in Bridgeport, CT. The United Technologies Corporation subsidiary designs and manufactures helicopters for commercial, industrial, and military use.

Andrew Farag, BS (ACCT), is a financial analyst with Goodrich Corp. in Cleveland, OH. The Fortune 500 company is a leading supplier of systems and services for the aerospace and defense industries.

Joshua Farrell, BS (ACCT), is a financial analyst with Ford Motor Co. in Dearborn, MI.

Ryan Girmscheid, BS (ACCT), is a certified public accountant with John R. Waters & Co. in Chicago, IL. The firm primarily serves high net-worth individuals and privately held businesses.

Stefanie Heywood, BSM, is a personal banker with FBOP Corp./Regency Bank in Chicago, IL.

Molly Holsinger, BSM, is in the retail development program (RDP) at National City Corp. in Chicago, IL. The RDP trains managers for the company’s more than 1,200 retail banking branches.

Ryan Kirke, BSM, is an analyst with Emerging Solutions in Chicago, IL. The technology-based professional services organization provides consulting services to Fortune 500 and middle market companies

Antara Kothari, BSM, has relocated to New York, NY.

Rachel Kriech, BSM, is an operations coordinator for Group Athletica LLC in Indianapolis, IN. The company is the sports apparel division of Reebok International.

Kate Kuznar, BS (ECON), is in the financial management program (FMP) for General Electric’s Consumer and Industrial Business. As part of the program, she writes,
“I will be changing addresses every six months for the next two years.”

Erik Miller, BSM, works in management information systems for Interstate Warehousing’s Joliet, IL, facility. Part of the Tippman Group, the company is one of the United State’s top-10 public refrigerated warehouse operations.

Christine Schroeter, BSM, is a financial analyst with Ford Motor Co. in Dearborn, MI.

Megan (Dowe) Smith, BSM, married Casey Smith (BSECET ’05) on June 18, 2005. She is an assistant bank sales manager for Salin Bank & Trust Co. in Lafayette, IN.

Michael Wingert, BSM, is an executive assistant manager with Walgreens in East Windsor, NJ.

Monika Wong, BSM, is an account manager with C.H. Robinson Worldwide (CHRW) in Oak Brook, IL. CHRW is one of North America’s largest logistics, transportation, and sourcing companies.

In Memoriam

Paul DeNuccio, BSIM 1971, passed away unexpectedly on January 9, 2006. An all-Big Ten and All-American honors recipient as an offensive lineman on the Purdue football team, DeNuccio worked at 3M for 33 years, most recently serving as marketing director in the Automotive Aftermarket Division in St. Paul, MN. He is survived by his wife, Susan, and two daughters, Laura, and Lydia, a senior at the Krannert School., BSIM 1971, passed away unexpectedly on January 9, 2006. Randy Reyzlik, MSM 1980, succumbed to a long battle with cancer on January 31, 2006, in Fremont, NE, where he served as city administrator. Returning to his native state following graduation, Reyzlik began his 23-year career in public service as Fremont’s assistant for budget and personnel. He is survived by his wife, Sue, daughters Sara and Ramie, and a son, Evan.
