Purdue University Consulting Club

Description

Offers students the opportunity to develop in their understanding of the consulting lifestyle, case interviews and case competitions.  Additionally, it provides students the opportunity to work on real consulting projects as well to practice the skills they learn in workshops, speakers series, and city treks.

Mission

To build a talent pipeline for consulting firms at Purdue University. We will achieve this mission by building student knowledge about the industry, cultivating valuable networking opportunities, and
encouraging student participation in case study competitions and interviews.

Callouts

Dates: August 30th & 31st

Purpose: Introduce students to consulting, case competitions and case interviews. We will also discuss how students can become more engaged and join Purdue University Consulting Club.

One will cater to the technical majors in Purdue related to engineering, technology and the sciences and the other will cater to both undergraduate and graduate business students. At the event, both the president of PUCC and PSC will speak and incorporate the videos into the PowerPoint presentation.


Case Competition Workshops

Purpose: To train students for case competitions that focus on market research through primary and secondary resources to resolve solution to company issues in the past and present.

Date: September 9th - General Types of Consulting (Appirio)

Students will first learn skills about consulting in general and how to be successful.

Breakout Sessions: These groups will work on a case scenario together by approaching it based on the type of consulting they are most interested in. This activity would last 20 minutes. Twenty minutes of feedback would then be given on how each individual approacehd the discussion and what they did well and could improve on.

Date: September 30th - Data Analytics Relationships (AT Kearney)

Students will first learn skills about consulting using Business Analytics.

Breakout Sessions:These groups will work on a case scenario together by approaching it based on the type of consulting they are most interested in. This activity would last 20 minutes. Twenty minutes of feedback would then be given on how each individual approacehd the discussion and what they did well and could improve on.

Date: October 28th - Strategy Frameworks (1 Partner)

Students will first learn skills about strategy frameworks and how they can be used in competitions, interviews, and engagements.

Breakout Sessions: These groups will work on a case scenario together by approaching it based on the type of consulting they are most interested in. This activity would last 20 minutes. Twenty minutes of feedback would then be given on how each individual approached the discussion and what they did well and could improve on.


Speaker Series (September 29th) - SLALOM

Purpose: To provide students information on the consulting, the lifestyle and what students can do to prepare for consulting. Additionally, it allows the students to learn about the company and then network with the recruiters after this event in a relaxed social setting.

Case Interview Skype Sessions - 9/23 & 10/21

Purpose: To provide students one-on-one practice on a case interview scenario.  Students will work in groups of two with each other or with a corporate partner via skype to help them prepare for case interviews and receive feedback from each other, themselves and a corporate partner. 

Dates: September 23rd & October 21st


Chicago City Trek

Purpose: To provide an opportunity for students and corporate partners to meet and engage at corporate offices in order to learn about company culture and connections.
