Weekend MBA program available to Purdue employees at more than 50% discount

Wednesday, June 9, 2021

The Krannert School of Management is now offering its Weekend MBA program to Purdue employees at a reduced tuition cost of $25,000, or $5,000 per semester for 5 semesters. That represents a more than 50% discount off the standard tuition for Indiana residents of almost $51,000. The discount is for Fall 2021 enrollees only.

The Purdue Weekend MBA is conducted at an ideal pace for ambitious professionals to whom career and family are important. Its blended learning format offers a refreshed curriculum in a 21-month, alternating weekend program, allowing students to have online and onsite class instruction from experienced professors committed to developing business leaders. Classroom learning, which takes place every other Saturday from 8:00 am to 5:00 pm, is supplemented by case studies, research projects and study abroad opportunities.

“This new Krannert pilot targets employees who wish to understand advanced management tools, develop leadership skills and improve their business acumen in a classroom setting,” says Greg Beaver, executive director of Krannert’s MBA, Professional Masters and PhD Programs. “The Krannert MBA prepares individuals to tackle big problems and make data-driven decisions where both the University and individual grow and benefit.”

Cara Putman, senior lecturer and School of Management Honors Director, earned her MBA through the Weekend program in 2015 to advance her career. An award-winning teacher, Putman enjoyed her time on the other side of the classroom. “I also love learning, and was looking for a well-rounded business degree that would help me better understand the students I was teaching,” she says.

“If you're curious about whether you can succeed, you can. On paper, I was the least prepared MBA student in history because I never took calculus and majored in liberal arts in undergrad. However, I thrived and loved the curriculum. It was an amazing experience — one I would do again.”

Dr. Esteban Ramirez, chief medical officer of the Protect Purdue Health Center and a primary care provider at the Center for Healthy Living/One to One Health, is a 2016 alumnus of the program.

“I have always been attracted to being part of the solution by earning a seat at the table where decisions are made,” Ramirez says. “Having gone through medical school, I was very confident in my clinical abilities, but I saw an opportunity to strengthen my administrative/leadership skills. Krannert has a great reputation and I knew they had outstanding professors.

“The Krannert Weekend MBA program provides you with the opportunity to hone your skills in management and leadership and tailor your learning near the end of the program to courses that interest you most. You will not regret getting an MBA from Krannert as you will apply what you learn in this program to your professional and personal life.”

A virtual information session on June 15 at 6:00 pm via Zoom will provide more information about the program. To register, click here.

In addition, Krannert will offer two Lunch & Learn events about the program on June 24 and July 8. These will be on-campus and in-person over the lunch hour (12:00 to 1:00 pm) in Rawls Hall. To register, click here.
