Krannert School launches technology-focused online MBA program

Purdue University’s Krannert School of Management began offering a two-year, fully online MBA program in January 2020. The Purdue Online MBA is accredited by the Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business. Classes will be taught in seven-week segments and the program offers rolling admissions, meaning students can join at different times during each school year.  The program will focus on team-based course designs, experiential learning, and superior student services all in a flexible fully online format necessary for working professionals. Krannert receives STEM designation for MBA specialization areas

Purdue’s Krannert School began offering a STEM-designated Master of Business Administration degree option this fall for students in four specialization areas: business analytics and information management, finance, global supply chain management or marketing. The STEM-designated MBA will offer an immersive set of quantitative classes grounded in statistics, computer applications and data analysis, along with core business classes that will develop students’ analytical and problem-solving skills. In addition, the 60-credit-hour, four-semester program will enhance leadership skills, preparing students to manage teams in a technology-driven world. MORE

The Wall Street Journal lists Purdue University sixth-best globally and third-best in the U.S. in a recent article highlighting startups generated from university-licensed technologies over the past 12 months. Novel X-Blockchain technology can help users share shopping, airline, other rewards

Facebook’s announcement to get into the banking business is putting a new spotlight on blockchain technology. Facebook plans to launch a blockchain-based financial network using Libra, which is being touted as Facebook’s digital currency. Purdue researchers led by Krannert faculty member Mohammad Rahman have developed X-Blockchain, a crypto-powered ledger technology that allows users to perform transactions in a confidential manner. Users share what is called shredded data – meaning the confidential information has been wiped out – instead of the actual data itself. MORE

Krannert expert says flexible, reduced-load jobs a win-win for workers, employers

Attracting and retaining the best and brightest employees with an unemployment rate that is hovering near a 50-year low is a challenge for companies. The challenge is made more difficult with more workers reaching retirement age, declining birth rates and fewer replacement workers to fill job openings. Other countries, such as the Netherlands, have been trying it for years and seeing success, as well as increased gender equality among men and women after the birth of a child, says Purdue University work-life balance expert Ellen Ernst Kossek.
