Charles Haywood

Clinical Assistant Professor;
Professor Haywood teaches business law and has been repeatedly recognized for distinguished teaching. His particular area of interest is entrepreneurship and private equity. He is also interested in mergers and acquisitions, contests for corporate control and corporate finance. Professor Haywood has extensive real-world experience in both business and law. He practiced with the Chicago law firm of Foley & Lardner for seven years, focusing on mergers and acquisitions, corporate finance and private equity. After receiving his MBA, he worked for several years in a purely business capacity for a group of chemicals industry businesses. Professor Haywood was a member of The University of Chicago Law Review and is the author of The Power of Bankruptcy Courts to Shift Fees Under the Equal Access to Justice Act, 61 U. CHI. L. REV. 985 (1994). He also wrote The Illinois Business Brokers Act: Pitfalls for the Unwary, 85 ILL. B. J. 542 (1997).
